Dental Implants

Traditionally dentures and bridges were the only options for replacing missing teeth, at Edge Dental Care, we can replace missing teeth using dental implant technology. A dental implant is an artificial replacement for a tooth root, usually made from titanium. They are suitable for most adults with good general health and are a more permanent solution to replacing missing teeth.

Single dental implant

A single missing tooth can be replaced using a single dental implant.

A single dental implant is carefully placed into the jawbone to act as a base for your new tooth,. Once healed, we create a custom-made cosmetic crown to fit perfectly onto the implant and match nearby teeth giving a natural look.

The dental implant will function, look and feel just like your own teeth..

Multiple Dental Implants

If you have several adjacent teeth missing it can create a large gap in your teeth causing difficulty when eating and speaking as well as affecting the appearance of your smile. Multiple dental implants can be placed to restore these larger gaps.

We can use a combination of single implants and cosmetic crowns or a bridge to connect multiple implants together. The number of implants required depends on your individual case. We will discuss all options with you at your consultation.

Implant retained dentures

A traditional denture can become loose and move about, causing difficulty in eating and preventing you from speaking clearly.

Dental implants can be used to secure your denture into a set position. Implant secured dentures are more comfortable than traditional dentures and they give you a more natural biting and chewing function.

To secure your denture into position two to four implants are placed in the lower jaw and four implants in the upper jaw. This provides a stable structure for the denture whilst still allowing the appliance to be removable for cleaning.
